The images I ultimately chose relate to Gestalt through several of the properties presented to us. Grouping, repetition and proximity are the most common principles I always shoot for and represent in my work. My inspiration for this project was mainly through the question “how do you make an image?” When I came across this question I immediately thought about the basics of photography and the one element you always need to make an image is light. Light is the key of producing any image so I chose to primarily focus on natural light and lighting. So once I had my key concept I later incorporated the gestalt properties which became easier once I knew what to look for. Repetition is very prominent in my photographs through the objects themselves being multiple within a single image. Grouping comes to play as well because it is more appealing to the audience when things go together and form good composition. Overall I thought of Gestalt as the suggestions someone should follow to make a good photograph, it can be combined with other properties or used on its own, but it is always about the viewpoint and perspective the photographer has.
