Self care is essential for mental health and will lead to a balanced, healthy, and happy life. There are four categories for self care which are: mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual self care. Each and every part of them are connected and contribute to positive mental health.

Self care includes eating properly, exercising, sleeping well, coping appropriately with emotions (good and bad such as stress, grief, anger), socializing, healthy solitude, spirituality, relaxation, rest, daily routines/rituals, and mindfulness.

There can be a lot of grief and surrender involved in taking responsibility for your own well-being even if you didn’t in your past or never received nurturing from a primary caretaker. It’s important to remember that you are capable of loving and honoring yourself and have the power to develop healthy habits to nourish your life and your love for yourself.

Mental Self Care

Stressed is called a silent killer for a reason and is one of the major risk factors for illness. Managing your stress levels can improve your health and help you handle any sort of situation as well as bettering relationships. Most importantly, it provides a peaceful and comfortable environment for our mind to flourish and avoid negativity.

Physical Self Care

Diet, exercise, hydration, and sleep are key factors in physical self care.

Sleep, caffeine, alcohol, nicotine, and sugar are the major stressors on our body which over time become their own liabilities, straining our organs and inhibiting peaceful frame of mind.

Developing healthy habits will help sustain our wellness while sparing us the toxicity.

Active

Physical activity and exercise are key factors in controlling stress. A brisk walk can work wonders for your mood and mental state. Physical activity is honoring your body and our blood circulation and metabolism will thank us for it.

Emotional Self Care

Living your truth and honoring your emotions is very important for emotional self care. Learning ho to stand up for yourself and express your opinions and beliefs while still respecting others can go a long way in creating harmonious relationships with the people in your daily life.

Spiritual Self Care

Connectingwith your spirit and finding quiet and peace throughout all the noise is spiritual self care. It is all about creating practices and habits that will serve you, restore your energy, renew your spirit, and peace of mind.
