Social and political understanding continues to be a vital skill for today’s youth as government policies and attitudes become more contentious. In the current political climate, civic awareness and engagement are necessary for our future generation of students to be active leaders and act as a fair voice for advocacy for social justice in society, especially in such a central, dynamic city like Austin, Texas. SEU’s Forum this Thursday will bring together the voice and enthusiasm of social justice organizations from all over campus to educate and advocate for civic involvement.
Some of the organizations you’ll find include Students for Sustainability, PRIDE, Black Student Alliance, Monarchs on the Hilltop, AmericaIWill, Monarchs on the Hilltop, and IGNITE. The Social Justice forum will also feature special guest Will Francis, Government Relations Director for the Texas Chapter for the National Association of Social Workers (NASW). All students are welcome and encouraged to participate. Hope to see you there!
The Social Justice Policy Forum will be 12:30-2:00 PM in Mabee B in Ragsdale Hall. Pizza will be provided at the forum.
