Pamela Millan, MSEM ’16 chosen as National Wildlife Federation Fellow

Environmental Management and Sustainability student, Pamela Millan, MSEM ’16, was recently chosen as a National Wildlife Federation (NWF) Fellow. She was selected as an EcoLeader Content Development Fellow and will be working with NWF this summer to develop content for its EcoLeaders site, the online community for college students working on campus sustainability projects.

The NWF EcoLeaders Initiative was created to recognize the fact that students and young professionals are often the catalysts for change in communities and organizations. An online community for students and young professionals, EcoLeaders offers the space to create, to share and earn certification for their leadership efforts, projects and campaigns. Together, EcoLeaders are working towards a future in which all wild creatures and natural areas are thriving, and all people have the opportunity to live healthy, prosperous and fulfilling lives.

Pamela was also one of 13 Environmental Management and Sustainability (Cohort 3) students selected (out of more than 2100 applicants), to present at a leading international biology conference in France. Five groups of the Cohort 3 students will present at the International Conference for Conservation Biology in Montpelier, France, in August of 2015. The Society for Conservation Biology is the leading professional organization for conservation. Pamela will present, along with Stacia Sheputa ’15, Amanda Maxon ’16, on “the relationship between white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus) population density, foraging pressure on vegetation, and fecal cortisol levels.”
