Mia Carameros ’13 has had a busy year. Last fall, she had a two-person exhibit at Wally Workman Gallery and she was recently featured in Tribeza magazine. Her process involves collecting plants, pressing them, and then projecting the plant onto paper. Mia draws the plant before painting with a surgeon’s attention to detail.
When describing her work, Mia says that “a lot of the work I make – my botanicals – are weeds. They’re things that are not desired or sought after, but they’re beautiful and we drive by them every day and don’t really think twice. But I like to set them apart and celebrate them.”
Mia’s works are available at Wally Workman Gallery.
