Green Halloween

Spooky Trees and Creepy Crafts
What do trees and Halloween have in common? More than you think! Trees have been the star of many horror movies. Here is our favorite watch list. To celebrate trees and Halloween, the Office of Sustainability is hosting a Spooky Trees Craft where you will combine trimmed or fallen branches from our campus trees with recycled materials to make your own Halloween door hanger or spooky spider web. While doing so, you can learn about our beloved trees. Tuesday, October 30 from 11 am – 2 pm at Ragsdale Center.

And did you know that for the third year in a row, St. Edward’s University has been named a Tree Campus USA for our dedication to planting, protecting and maintaining our trees? You could call it a tree-peat!

If you can’t make our event, you’ll find plenty of ideas at this link to recycle and repurpose items around your dorm or home.

Find skeletons in your closet
Before heading to the store to purchase a new costume, shop your closet. You might find the makings of a skeleton costume, cowboy, prom queen, or spider. You can find over 100 costume ideas here. Try thrift stores for inspiration and finishing touches on your costume.

No tricks, only treats
Skip the wrapper and pass on the fun-size Halloween candy. Bake your own treats instead! We’re partial to the super easy cobweb brownies and we won’t tell if you eat two. Here’s a list to get you started in the kitchen.
