Campus trees and Ozone garden talk on Sustainability day

On October 26th, the Sustainability Office, Facilities Department and Students for Sustainability hosted an event at the Soring Oak and Ozone garden.St. Edward’s arborist, Paul Schuman, discussed the importance of campus trees, tree care and protection, and diversity in the urban forest. Attendees were able to ask questions about the critical root zone that was shown with colorful flags and ribbons on the ground, and the content of the tags hanging from the Sorin Oak and other surrounding trees. Then the group headed over from the Sorin Oak area to the Ozone garden to hear Dean of the School of Natural Sciences, Gary Morris, PhD, talk about the effect of Ozone on our plants and health. Dr. Bill Quinn, Biology Professor, was also present. He discussed the study that is being conducted at the Ozone garden.
