Hilltop Views Report: Bon Appétit charging for to-go boxes in effort to be more sustainable

In its continued efforts to become more sustainable, Bon Appétit recently announced that it will be charging 25 cents per compostable to-go container across its on-campus dining halls. Their goal is to start promoting the use of their reusable plastic boxes instead of the disposable compostable containers, which will help to reduce the amount of waste that eventually ends up in the landfill. Over 100,000 meals were in eaten in the cafeteria last year from compostable boxes, rather than plates. Diverting even a chunk of those 100,000 trashed containers from the landfill would make a huge difference. Click here to read the full report by Hilltop Views. Thank you, Bon Appétit, for helping to make St. Edward’s a greener university!
