Student’s Business Promotes Sustainable City Design

The BMC Project is a group of socially-minded consultants that operate a virtual forum, a platform for information gathered both online and in person. We promote sustainable city design by suggesting city planners take on projects such as constructing buildings with shared walls, retrofitting spaces like abandoned parking lots into parks, and reducing sprawl by increasing density and public transportation access through transit oriented development (TOD). We value human interaction over strictly online mediums so ideas are gathered through community-driven workshops. These are are done to revitalize their neighborhoods and urban areas that benefit everyone in their community. The BMC team then transfers all the information in an online application that is available to city planners. BMC is working to empower people to make their communities better places to live.
