I chose to make a matchbox inspired by Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge. Not only has it been one of my favorite movies for years, but it expresses every single kind of art.
The music, dancing, creating of costumes, sets, writing, emotion, and finally romance.
This was a rather difficult piece to make because there were a lot of phrases I wished to add in, though I ended up deciding it was the most aesthetic when I created images.
I formatted the demensions on Adobe Illustrator and well is playing with colors to express the movie.
The elephant was one of the harder parts; I wanted to express the actual materials from the elephant room in the movie and I felt I did well making the gold look shiney, using various adaptatinos of a broze and gold color I composed from the tools. The blue is like in the movie, and has a gleaming affect as well. I chose to express the lights dangling throughout the film with the textured part of the box used to strike the matches.
