For this project we were to create a set of posters for a place in Austin. My place was Laguna Gloria, a historic site turned sculpture garden. They are currently renovating the site and dealing with the invasive plants that have claimed the land.
My posters were created as an extension of the restoration. They would be used to teach visitors of the impact these invasive species are having on the native plants. I wanted the posters to be reminiscent of old botanical drawings, classifying and teaching about the plants. I also wanted to emphasize that even though they are invasive, they can be controlled and studied. By mimicking botanical illustrations, it would bring this feeling of control, while also acknowledging that these species, though not beneficial to central Texas, are still natural and beautiful.
