Part 1.
Kim’s designs were very nice. Her app, Eventurist, was really cool and interesting to learn how the creation of an app works. Her film combining the old musical and new music is awesome. The 4 incarnations are really cool. She’s a graphic design teacher, which is also very inspiring.
Tammie’s sculptures are so interesting. Her inspiration is unique and her work is beautiful. The manufactured objects turned into naturalistic art is a really interesting take. The speakers and cones were very cool, and the bright colors really pushed the art to be even more beautiful.
James’s photographs were both creepy and amazing. The accidental theme was very cool and makes you think about everything you’ve accidentally done. He uses the huge old style camera which is a very interesting choice. The longer exposures really made the work look very different. The deck and tree, the red room, and hair on the bathroom wall really showed life in a different point of view. His connections to celestial bodies was also very interesting.
Part 2.
This semester has been very stressful and exciting and I believe this class has been helpful even though sometimes it felt a little unnecessary. Getting to listen to graduates that are successful in my field is inspiring. It gives me hope for the future and allows me to worry less about whether or not I’ll get a job I actually like. I also learned useful things about school and resources St. Eds offers. Overall, it was a useful class and I enjoyed it.
