Part 1
1. How is Warhol able to turn in “off” and based upon the article does he not care about the work?
He believes in the philosophy that nothing really matters and that “it’s magic if it happens and if it doesn’t it doesn’t matter” (146). This allows him to go through life without caring about failure, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t like it. He likes the world and he has an eye for beauty and believes that “work is play when it’s something you like” (146).
2. Why is the article relevant to the last project?
The article is relevant because we had to separate ourselves from the work in order to make a picture that meant something.
Part 2
1. Do you become self-conscious of your ideas?
I’m a pretty self-conscious person in general, so I tend to be self-conscious about my ideas. I can worry about what other people think and whether or not something is a good idea at all.
2. What do you think of the nothing-to-lose attitude? What are it’s pros and cons?
It’s a pretty useful attitude to have because you can make work without having to worry about the outcome. It can free you so that you’re never scared of creating something different or of failing. However, not caring about the consequences can suggest that your art doesn’t mean anything or when making something, you might not love it or have fun.
