Kelly Eden is an artist from Los Angeles California. She attended Denver School of the Arts, a prestigious high school for fine arts, and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from the Rocky Mountain School of Art and Design. Initially, she started working as a tattoo artist after college but quickly received several modelling opportunities, which she took. She’s an alternative model who’s been on the cover of several magazines.
Kelly Eden decided to make a series of paintings that would be representative of the friends she made and the experiences she had during that stage of her life. All of her pieces are exceptionally large, made from oil paint on canvas. This series was the first she produced after she graduated from college.
The Painting on the top left is a self-portrait titled “Cake.” On the bottom right, there’s another self-portrait titled “Because he wouldn’t listen.” The other paintings are all named after the friends she painted. Most of these pieces are 6 feet by 4 feet. This series was completed in 2012.
When asked about this series by Paul Pike for Bound by Ink magazine, she said, “I’ve been lucky enough to meet some friends in this industry, and these paintings will reflect what we have all gone through in pursuit of our dreams in this industry,”
Currently, she’s distanced herself from modelling and trying to spend more time creating art as well as flower crowns and other handmade goods. She’s directing youtube skits and is a social media influencer. Kelly Eden’s new series that she’s painting is much more ethereal and positive.
Kelly Eden is still painting very large pieces in the same medium, and still gets a lot of inspiration from her friends. Her focus now it’s drawing herself and her friends as magical and powerful beings; Sailor Scouts from the Sailor Moon series.
