My Problem with Facebook Pages

After I started JMR, I really didn’t know what to expect. The work social media wise is so hard for a start-up business like JMR. Although I really did think that it was going to be no big deal attracting an audience has been a difficult process. My one problem was Facebook. I don’t know if you have seen posts on people’s Facebook pictures or whole albums selling things. You know, the posts where they tag a lot of people to get their attention. That was not the kind of audience I wanted to build. I wanted a serious audience that would somewhat respect my work. I even considered the possibility of detaching myself completely but I suppose the people that were interested wanted to put a face to the name.

The first step I took into starting JMR was a bit of a drastic one. I made the online store first. But I knew I needed to tap into a social media platform, I just didn’t know which one or even how. That when I decided to make a Facebook Page. That is probably the best decision I have made yet. The only reason I stress it so much is because I was so resistant toward making one. After getting so heavily involved I even decided to start promoting my Facebook Page my paying for advertising through Facebook. That was so successful my reach and views went up by an insane amount. I cannot stress enough how important Facebook is to today’s business world. I believe that when people all business should have an online presence but how they show their presence should be strategic and cautious to create the image and brand that they seek.

What is JMR?

JMR stands for a lot of things. First of all my three initials Jimena Maria Ramon, second my start-up online jewelry store and finally a dream that I have that I hope one day comes true. Making JMR is a blog about my struggle to brand, rebrand and market JMR. JMR designs can be found here. First of all I suppose I should explain the story of how a college student like myself would take on a start-up broke and NOT a business major.

I have always been a fan of  jewelry, I just never thought I would want to make some myself let alone make a business out of it. After my boyfriend and I started a long distance relationship I found a lot of time to myself.

I was at Le Garage when I discovered chrysoprase(a green colored natural stone that is thought to cure a broken heart.) Missing my boyfriend made me buy it

.

I went to a bead store bought some silk chord and put it around my neck and like fate I discovered a new hidden talent of mine. Friends saw the bright green stone around my neck and immediately wanted one, hence my start-up. I just never realized how hard PR and Advertising was for a business. It’s all about being consistent and with so much going on with work and school already it is hard to do that. This blog with take readers through my journey of my social media/PR frenzy for JMR.
