As we’re winding down this semester it’s important to address finals! Finals stress is real, especially as college students, and we would love to take this opportunity to provide you all with some resources! While this time can be stressful it’s important to remember that it will end! Staying sober throughout this time is not only vital to your physical but your mental health. Remember to be kind to yourself and make sure to keep reading to find some helpful tips!

Overall tips

Let’s kick this off by providing some basic tips to remember during finals week! First, make sure that you get your schedule down! Check your classes scheduled final days and times and create a calendar for yourself to ensure that you know when to go into class! Going along with creating a calendar for your finals, make sure to create a to-do list! Write down all the projects and tests you have coming up as well as any other important activities that you need to get done. Create yourself a study plan so that you have set times in which you properly study for your finals so you don’t procrastinate! Studying is crucial to finals week so making sure to carve out that study time ahead of the week will be a huge help! Along with carving out study time, make sure you find a good study spot! Find a nice quiet environment where you know you’ll be able to focus and get your work done! 

Study Tips

Now that we’re on the subject of studying, let’s dive into some study tips! Firstly, if your professor is offering some kind of study guide then absolutely use it!! Remember that your professor knows what material is on the test so it is best that you study the materials that they personally create for their final. This next next study tip may seem a little tedious, but if your professor doesn’t provide a study guide try making your own! Creating a practice test is proven to help students retain information which therefore will help you on the real test. Along with creating a practice test, make sure that you look over your notes from class! Often, professors make sure to point out certain topics in lectures that are important for students to know, so looking back on your notes will help you more than you might think! 

Self-Care

Lastly, let’s discuss some tips for self-care during finals week. Make sure to get enough sleep! This is so incredibly important and it’s crucial to make sure that you’re maintaining your physical health during this time! As we’re talking about physical health, make sure you aren’t skipping meals! I know that finals can cause us to get distracted and this can cause us to forget to eat balanced meals, but remember that you need to eat in order to keep yourself energized! Also, make sure to keep yourself hydrated! I know getting energy drinks is often a popular fallback when studying for finals, but water is vital and it’s the best way to keep yourself hydrated!
