When facing a drug addiction it can be hard knowing where to start in terms of recovery. Not only can the search for the right kind of treatment be difficult, but rehab centers can become incredibly costly, especially for college students. It’s important that we’re able to share cost effective resources for those facing an addiction issue and are out seeking help! If you or someone you know would like to take a step forward, the SAMHSA national helpline, 1-800-662-4357, is a free confidential helpline where you can speak with real public health agencies that are available to you 24/7 and are committed to helping callers find drug treatment centers as well as helpful information.
For our central Texas college students, The Phoenix House Texas is a great center for free treatment, counseling, and education of drugs and alcohol. The Phoenix House Texas services everyone no matter the age or gender. Services provided in the addiction recovery program are individualized treatment plans, individual assessments, evidence-based treatment methods, as well as CARF-accredited outpatient services for youths and adults. Multiple locations for The Phoenix House Texas are spread across the state such as in areas like Houston, Dallas, Round Rock, and San Antonio, making this an accessible resource for students at Texas colleges. It is important to note that a majority of rehab centers will help those cover the cost through different insurance plans. Some common payment plans for those that are looking for treatment at a reduced price include: health insurance, a sliding scale, loans or payment plans, Medicaid, and Medicare. Another great resource for central Texas college students is the Alpha House in San Antonio. The Alpha House is a drug and rehab center that accepts federal grants and funding, Medicaid, and some private insurance plans. This rehab center also includes a separate residential program just for women! The Alpha House is an accredited center by CARF as well as an award winning center. While this center does require payment, this is still an affordable option for those seeking help. Staying in the central Texas area, A New Entry, in Austin is a state funded residential treatment program that is supported by a grant from the TVC fund. A New Entry offers men’s addiction programs as well as women’s substance abuse programs! Treatment plans at A New Entry can include: relapse prevention, drug and alcohol education, anger management, mental and emotional health services, as well as meditation.
While there are many other rehab options all across Texas, these are some starting points that are free and useful so please call or visit them if you’re feeling like you’re ready to get help. Reaching out for help can seem scary and intimidating, but the centers provided before are committed to helping those receive help in a comfortable and safe environment. Whether you’re just looking to make a phone call or you’re ready to enter an addiction program, Sober Support will be here to help educate you on the best decisions to make in either case! Recovery is possible and we are committed to making sure you get the help you need.
