In the coming weeks we will be discussing issues that Austin’s Homeless face such as COVID-19 concerns, Climate Change, overcrowded shelters and more.

Our Team

Andrew is a Junior transfer student and is a Communication Major with a concentration in Interpersonal Communication. Andrew finds this topic important because the Homeless population in Austin is a big issue. Before the Pandemic it was a problem, but now during COVID-19 it has become even more of a concern because of stores and restaurants closing. Andrew thinks it is important to spread awareness about this issue so that the Homeless populations does not keep growing over the years to come, mainly because the more people that are homeless, the more the economy will sink.

Analisa is a Junior Communication Major with a concentration in PR and Advertising and a Minor in Journalism Digital Media. Analisa finds this topic important because anyone can fall into Homelessness and believes that the wealth inequality gap is only growing bigger and bigger. Basic shelter and sustenances should be provided to everyone and hopes that the work we do with SEU Combats Homelessness can aid in that.

Bianca is a Senior BFA Acting Major and a Communication Minor. Bianca believes it is important to raise awareness and take action about the homeless issue in Auston because poverty has been an issue in the city for far too ling. It saddens her heart to see people on the street without food or shelter especially in this pandemic. As Austin residents, we have to do our part in building up out underserved communities in any way we can. If not us, then who? We can do it together

Nicholas is a Junior Communication major. Nick grew up in Austin and considers it home. Throughout his time here the homelessness has become a problem that seems to only be growing. Nick considers it a responsibility to be active and concerned and to raise awareness for this issue.

Jayne is a Senior Majoring in Communication with an emphasis in PR and Advertising. Jayne has lived in Austin for most of her life and has seen the homeless problem get progressively worse. She feels that she is now in a position where she can make a difference with her voice. Her hope is to see the homeless population decrease and continue to stay that way.
