If you are curious about the Sociology major and minor at SEU, the other Sociology courses we offer here, or career information for Sociology majors, please visit http://think.stedwards.edu/bss/academics/undergraduate/sociology.
In addition, here are a few other resources that should help you determine how a sociology major can provide you with the foundation for a satisfying and fulfilling career path:
- Sociology: What Can I Do With This Major?
- A Brief Introduction to Applied Sociology (scroll down for a list of potential jobs)
- Places to Search For Jobs and Career Information
- The American Sociological Association’s Booklet “21st Century Careers with an Undergraduate Degree in Sociology, Second Edition” ($1)
I also recommend that you schedule a meeting with a staff member from the St. Edward’s Career and Professional Development Center.
Finally, do an internship! An internship will help you to decide whether or not you want to pursue a particular career path. Also, if you act professionally and do high quality work during your internship, it might lead to a job. Internships also can provide you with valuable experience that you can add to your resume, and a supervisor who may be willing to write you a letter of reference in the future. The career center provides a list of internships (and jobs) on Hilltop Careers.
