How to take a Self Care day
Nowadays it’s easy to forget to place ourselves as a priority. “There is a pervasive cultural pressure to keep pushing ourselves, to ignore the physical needs of our bodies and the emotional needs of our souls, which invariably leads to chronic stress, burnout, depression”( Tello,2017). We’re wrapped up in our days ensuring everyone’s else needs are met. It’s ok to want to spend some time alone and put your phone on do not disturb.
Here are a list of things you can do for self care and items you can purchase to make your next self care day relaxing.
- Call your best friend or friends you need to catch up with in sometime.
- Book a massage to release tension in your neck, shoulders, and back.
- Paint your own nails, or go get them done to have something to look forward to.
- Turn on candles you find relaxing or use an essential oils mist to unwind.
- Take a bubble bath and do breathing exercises.
- Go get the hair cut you keep thinking about or that hair color you’ve been wanting to try.
- Journal your thoughts on how you are feeling or things you want to get off your chest.
- Book a weekend getaway. Go visit a new city or visit friends or family.
- See that show/movie you haven’t made time to see.
- Read that book you keep saying you will read and don’t make time for.
- Release those endorphins. Go for a walk, jog, swim, lift weights, spin, yoga, or boxing. Release the stress in a good way.
- Get a facial or do a skin mask to feel refreshed.
- Delete social media or take a break by not checking your accounts for a day.
- Go to an art class or try a new craft you’ve been wanting to learn.
