Issue II: Summer 2014
Someone asked me once if I was a painter. I said no, I was not.
“Edward was ill prepared, but believed in doing good and reinstated a holy, business-free church. He was a transitional king. He believed in diversity, and looked at education as a holistic thing. Which is what Saint Edward’s University exudes. Students here are diverse. They come here looking for holistic education. Edward believed in providing justice to all people, providing clothes to people, feeding the people.”
When I talk about my freedom here in the US, I say, “I breathe.” The air here has different flavor, not only because there are no military checkpoints, but also because there is freedom from a lot of concerns that in the past formed the features of my personality.
I imagine my father, / wading through the / angry Rio Grande, knowing / this journey was a dangerous feat.
Just thinking about it makes my pulse quicken. Why this lofty goal? Simply put… middle managers have it made.
Walking, always walking / Always together, always the purpose. / I imagine her a young woman / Full of life, / Brimming with the opposite of fear, whatever that may be.
