Rockin’ the House with Rock House

by Kiva Navarro

Classic rock band Rock House performed live this past Saturday night, and they did not disappoint. Band members Mike Brown, Mike Good, Rick Carroll, Arlin Hall, and Ronnie Lowell are down to earth guys who chat with their fans as if they are old friends hanging out at a bbq. These seasoned veterans have amazing guitar skills that do rock and roll music justice.

Although Rock House is a cover band, they sound just like the original artists right down to the guitar solos. The first thing I noticed about this band was their diligence to sound quality. I did not hear an annoying buzz in the background from a failed sound check or feedback from a misplaced speaker. These guys mean business. What is lacking in vocals (and it is not much) is forgiven in talent. Each member plays an electric guitar that artists such as ZZ Top, Journey, Georgia Satellites, and 38 Special would be proud of. Of course, I cannot forget to mention the drummer, who is just as skilled and fast as Stewart Copeland himself.

I have not seen such an eclectic group of people joined together for their celebration of music, since well—in Round Rock…never and I have lived here for 25 years. They bring people together young and old with audience members ranging from the drunken 22 year olds who take endless pictures all night, to the tight-knit families who take up three tables at the front of the house.

Rock House is a group of guys who love to play music for music’s sake and I certainly appreciate the passion illuminating from behind their guitar picks. You can find Rock House playing on the outside patio at Junior’s Grill and Icehouse on E. Main Street in Round Rock on a monthly basis, and listen to samples of their music on ReverbNation.com

Cover bands don’t always get the credit they deserve. Even though not the original, who doesn’t love rocking out to tried and true favorites? I just might make a trip out to RR to check them out one month…
