Furry paws in my lap
Wet nose upon my cheek
His first day home
He just had to seek
A little, black lab
Curious and small
Was ready to play
With toys and ball
What is your name?
I shall wait and see
It took me a while
To name him…Morgi!
Long walks and rides
The park…oh my!
Motorcycles and bikes
He certainly wasn’t shy
Blue collar, purple collar
A green one too
Once he saw that leash
Oh yes….he knew!
Away we would go
On our own adventures
To grandpas house
Or the neighbors fences
Bread and cheese
Biscuits and bones
His brown eyes begged
With his whiskers and nose
A guard dog was he
Master, do not be afraid!
But watch over me
When the thunder parades
Christmas day gifts
All wrapped up in tissue
Finding his presents
Was never an issue
When Easter arrived
The hunt was on
He cracked open those eggs
Like a magical wand
Young at heart
Forever is he
There is no greater love
Than for my dearest Morgi
