Walking around the South Congress area of Austin nicknamed “SoCo” is a fun way to spend a weekend afternoon. There are tons of unique shops, street vendors, and food trailers, besides some great restaurants and live music venues.
On any Saturday or Sunday, Guero’s restaurant is a happening place with some great bands and no cover charge. Guero’s has a full-service restaurant indoors and an outdoor patio where the bands play. There’s a full bar on the outside patio and a taco bar where you can get some great El Pastor tacos. It’s shaded by large trees and there are plenty of tables and benches where you can sit and listen or dance on the decent-sized dance floor.
I’ve spent many Sunday afternoons people watching and listening to bands at Guero’s and I’ve always had a great time. It’s a fun, relaxing way to enjoy the area and everyone has a smile. The drinks are reasonably priced and the tacos are $2.00. If you want the full menu, just head inside to the restaurant. You won’t be disappointed. www.guerostacobar.com
Leslie, I go to Guero’s occasionally, though I tend to avoid loud restaurants (my hearing defect gets worse in such an environment), but I’m curious about the Sunday afternoon scene.
