Never say never blog series: “I’ll never live in the country.”
My husband and I used to rent a little bungalow in Ballard, WA. We loved our little neighborhood and were always out exploring. When we were at home, we walked to most places, restaurants, coffee shops, and neighborhood stores. Fast forward to now, we want the total opposite – to live in the Texas Hill Country. Thinking about the twenty-something versions of us with our ideals makes me do a full-body eye roll and laugh.

The 2022 version of me can’t imagine living in the city again! We’ve been living in Boerne, and I didn’t think I would love it as much as I do! When we moved here, I thought of it as more of a “landing spot”, but this charming little city now has my heart. Since we’re approaching our 1st anniversary of living in beautiful Boerne, I wanted to share my top 4 local small businesses that I love and think you will too!
Bear Moon Bakery & Cafe
“The mission of the community bakery is to nourish the community heart.” They offer baked goods, breakfast and lunch items, as well as refreshing beverages and yummy coffee treats. My favorite item on the menu is their gluten-free morning muffin. It is perfection! Another household favorite on their menu is their biscuits and gravy. Josh and Noah love everything about them, especially the homemade biscuits! If you go, make sure you get there early because their tasty treats tend to go fast!

Daly Finds Resale Boutique
There is so much to love about this adorable boutique. This cute boutique features new and used clothing, accessories, and shoes for everyone – women, men, kids, and babies. I could spend hours here looking through every section and corner of the store. I recently found my favorite straw hat here. It’s perfect for this Texas heat in fall! They also offer fun and unique decor items and antiques that are perfect for any home refresh. Stop in and see what treasures you find!

Such cute options – which would you pick?!
Fetch & Friskers Pet Shop and Barkery
Anyone that knows Josh and I know how much we love our fur babies, Lyla and Diego. Our favorite place to spoil these two is Fetch & Friskers Pet Shop and Barkery. Their staff is super helpful and always has great suggestions for tasty treats for Lyla who has dietary restrictions. I love popping in and checking out the treats in their Barkery! You can even order a custom Pup Cake for a special birthday “pawty”! You can always shop online, but if you and your pups can make it, I know you would love it!

Handmade on Main
This store has so many items that are now on my “can’t live without” list. My top favorites include their “Love” cologne, pack of facial rounds, lotion bar, and lavender body butter from the FROM SCRATCH FARM maker. If you aren’t following the store on social or stopped in, you should! They have it all…home goods, candles, jewelry, plants, and items for women, children, and pets. What makes this store so unique and easy to fall in love with is the concept behind it. The storefront is designed to feature local makers and their items are displayed in different sections of the store. The owner’s motto is, “local goods from local folks”. If you can’t make it in, you can always shop online, but visiting in person is worth it!

Hello beautiful 🙂
There’s so much to love about Boerne and this is only a snippet of all the wonderful things it has to offer!
Thanks for sticking with me on our homebuying journey. Now I have to get back to the to-do list and work on the next steps.
Till next time…happy trails and God bless. 🖤
