This past month of March I went to multiple nature preserves and state parks. The Texas Hill Country is full of beautiful scenery and adventurous hikes. I want to discover all of the awesome cliffs, swimming holes, and fishing spots so that I can experience the uniqueness and intricacy of these many geographical locations.
This picture was taken after a somewhat treacherous climb up a cliff. I wanted to get to the highest point of the Pedernales Falls, so that I could capture a picture/view like this. After visiting Perdernales Falls State Park this past summer, it has become one of my favorite place to experience. The landscape and rocky-ness of the river in this location is awesome for hiking and adventure. It is cool to see how the water has carved into the rock and formed holes and caves. I wish that the park did not ban swimming on sunny days when the chance of rain is slim. There are so many cool pools of water that look very refreshing to jump into.
This picture was also taken at Pedernales Falls State park. This location was a much more secluded spot of the park but it held a nature jewel. This creek flows through the rocky hills of the park and formed a pool of crystal clear water. The ferns growing around the water give this spot a sort of fairy tale feeling. This would have been great for swimming if the water had been a tad warmer. I guess I will have to go back in the summer when it will be plenty warm.
This picture was taken at one of my new favorite places to fish and relax. There is a ton of life in the Colorado river at this spot. I have seen many different species of fish, birds, and turtles. I noticed that the plants have grown a lot in the past few weeks because the trails were nearly covered. I also noticed a lot of fish spawns teeming in the shallow water. It is nice to feel the warmth of spring and see the new life forming after the cold winter.
I caught this largemouth bass on one of my trips to this location. I used a new lure to catch this one. A lure that I thought could never possibly work. It is a plastic fish that will pop down into the water and bubble, when the line is pulled. Yet, for some reason, the bass are attracted to this action and will strike the plastic fish. It is pretty cool to see the fish come up to the surface and attack the lure. Most of the time I cannot see the fish but can only feel it yanking on the line.
