Graybill, March

“A thing is right when it tends to preserve the integrity, stability and beauty of the biotic community. It is wrong when it tends otherwise.” -Aldo Leopold

March came and went as quickly as the weather would change. I don’t think I have ever been so frustrated with the weather as I was this month. We would have beautiful, warm weekends and then go right back to cold and dreary weekdays. I’m so happy that it is finally beginning to look like spring. Bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrushes are lining the Texas highways and offering some color. For some reason, traffic is a little more bearable when you have large patches of wildflowers to gaze upon.

Being on campus during the warm days in March was so much more enjoyable. During my long breaks between classes I would go sit on the lawn outside of Ragsdale. When I didn’t have any readings to do, I would lay in the grass and look up at the trees. This spot is very quiet when everyone else is in class. All I could hear were the birds chirping. The longer I stayed still, I would begin to notice squirrels climbing into the tree I was under. Often times, I forget how beautiful our campus is. I get wrapped up in my day-to-day activities and forget to enjoy what is around me.
