The assignment was to make a poster with the use of Adobe Photoshop, using only the images given to us. The images consisted of stills and behind the scenes photos of Alfred Hitchcock films. I fulfilled the project requirements by creating a surrealist poster promoting a bizarre version of Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds. The process I followed allowed me to learn about Adobe Photoshop and poster design. I took into consideration the influences for Russian Constructivism and black and white film and used them as inspiration and research. I made the decision to keep the oyster in black and white so that it read more like a Hitchcock film still. I also used a single vintage style cinematic font, combining text and image. My design embodies the ideas in my concepts by showing juxtaposed images that blend together easily for a surrealist feel. My design enhances the content with the eerie black and white feel and the block letters and tones of Russian Constructivism.
