Blog Post #3 – Visual Studies Seminar

I visited arthound.com and all the artwork was very inspiring. The one artist whose artwork caught my attention was Kayla Plosz Antiel. Kayla resides in Washington, D.C. after earning her MFA in painting at Minneapolis College of Art & Design. Not only did the bold colors and textures of the paintings catch my attention but after reading the interview with Kayla, the inspiration and passion for the paintings made me much more intrigued. Kayla starts off a painting with what most people are familiar with, just painting a line and then letting her intuitive body response guide her. It is amazing to hear how passion can guide you to creating such beautiful work. Besides the passion put into Kayla’s work, the texture and colors of her paintings create a sense of happiness within.
