For this assignment, everyone in the class chose a typeface to showcase along with typesetting a story called the Crystal Goblet in book form; I chose News Gothic MT. I started off by typesetting the story, picking a relatively standard and uniform style and then played with white space, organization styles, strokes, and sizes of type in my typographic display. I decided to do contrasting styles on back-to-back pages of my number and letter display; one being very organized and the other, a jumbled mess. Hands down, this was my favorite assignment in Typography I because I really learned a lot about subtleties of typography and bookmaking. This specimen book has affected my work positively, due to the fact that News Gothic MT is one of my favorite fonts to use when designing because of its simple, clean letterforms.
