Personal Geography: Artifact Map

Artifact Map

during this project we were asked to create a map representing the track to a destination. Any destination starting from your house to a favorite restaurant, park, job or to school. I chose to represent my routine when I ride my bike to school. We were asked to show landmarks to help the observer understand the exact specifications of your traveling. I wanted the map to be visually appealing as well as informative and clear. I decided to break up the map between actual route and the breakup of the areas of Austin the route goes through. The top half of the map represents the different Austin areas as well as blatantly stating this is done by bike. (by placing the huge white bike on top of the colored area separations. I didn’t want there to be any confusion on how exactly I go about this destination. The bottom half of the map I showed the streets I take and the landmarks passed by. I am happy the way this map turned out. I think it shows enough diversity in the aspects of the travel while keeping it visually appealing.
