Societies in Transition: Immigration & Education

My name is kris sloan and I’m a professor at St. Edward’s University. This summer I’ve come with a group of students to Angers, France on a university-sponsored study-abroad program.  One of the great features of this summer’s programinvolves St. Edward’s students engaged in a community-service learning project at a local public middle school.  Students enrolled in my cross-listed course (EDUC 1330-Foundations of Education & CULF 3331-Contemporary World Issues: Societies in Transition, Immigration and Education) will be working with special needs middle school students, most of whom are immigrants, to create short Imovies of their lives.

We’ve given disposable digital cameras to the 12 students from Madame Thareau’s “Sixième” class (11-12 years of age)  and we’ve asked them to document their lives in Angers.
