Reading #1 “Chromophobia”
The fear of corruption through color its called “chromophobia.” A while ago, people were frightened of color. They saw color as something dangerous for their culture. I think they were afraid because they were so used to the traditional things such as basic drawings, sculptures; in other words, they were so realistic that were afraid to experiment with color. Color is very powerful, it can set a mood, a tone, etc. People just did not know how to use it and were afraid of color changing their culture in an extreme way. Throughout the time, they understood how to use it and give a meaning with it. I think that does not only happened in the past but today the fear for color still exists. If a person does not understand how to use color or what the meaning of color is, he or she will be afraid of it because it will be something new for them. History repeats itself with color but it is amazing once you understand the meaning of it.
