Well, this could be interesting. I want to know more about this company. How many signed artists does it represent, for example? Who’s the biggest name? Is this sort of company fairly typical in the music biz? Does Brodie’s Fault have competition here in Austin, in Texas, generally?
On form: You start out as a Storify and then suddenly it’s all text. Generally, that is not how a Storify works. Also, why tell this story as a Storify? What is the reason you chose this particular tool (is it because you can embed tweets and other social media? Why not embed the interview snippets then?) On the interviews: Why link to them separately? Indeed, why at all? Wouldn’t it make more sense to embed samples of the music made by the musicians Brodie’s Fault represents in the story itself? One reason I suggest this is that the audio is very tinny. Sounds like you did these interviews on the phone/Skype and not in person?
This can be an interesting story. Just add to the reporting and work out the form. If you use a Storify, do it all the way through with embedded audio. You might also try medium.com. That might work better for what you’re doing. Or Adobe Spark.
Hi Lauren, I like the direction you’re taking in explaining a little bit about the founding members. I want to know a few more of the specifics. When was the company founded? What roles/tasks do Brodie’s partners do? How often do they meet up or how do they divide the work? Is this an important, under-rated step in the music industry? Are there more companies like this? How many artists has the company helped? What is their long-term goal? I think Storify or Medium would work well. Instead of stacking the embedded tweets on top of each other, spread them out. Format wise, You could say “St. Edward’s University student Brodie Elkins,” instead of Brodie Elkins, student at St. Edward’s.” In my opinion, if you change title at the beginning, it tends to flow better. Don’t say “According to their Twitter and Facebook.” Say Brodie’s Fault hosts a concert every month and use Facebook and Twitter to promote their line-ups. (Include hyperlinks to their accounts). Add more pictures of them or what they do if possible. Also, include fun facts and what majors these guys are studying. I like the quotes you’re using. I think the only one I would omit is when Brodie says that he does the digital stuff. You could say, Brodie handles the digital stuff, while the other two do this and this. Good job with how you organized your thoughts.
