With election day now less than a month away in Texas, we hope that you are all already registered to vote! With that being said, there are a few more things to do before going to the polls.
1. The first being, when does early voting start. Early voting in Texas for the May 4th election starts on April 22nd and ends on April 30th. This means early voting by personal appearance, so in order to participate in this round of voting, you must show up in person in order to vote early. You can find your nearest polling station, here.
2. Next, if you are not able to make it to early voting, and you know that you will not be able to go to the polls on May 4th, you are able to apply for a ballot via mail. In order to vote by mail, you must apply for a ballot. This application for ballot by mail, must be received by April 23rd. Received, not postmarked! So, send in your application sooner rather than later in order to ensure that your vote will be counted.
3. As we’ve mentioned before, ELECTION DAY IS MAY 4TH! The polls will be open until 7pm on May 4th. So, whether you’re going in person, or sending your ballot in via mail, your ballot must be received by 7 pm on May 4th!
4. Lastly, we recommend looking at the Texas League of Women Voters (not just for women), to find a sample ballot for your particular district because this is a special election, all of the ballots will look a little different. You can enter your address and find your sample ballot, here.
Along with that, not every district is having an election this May 4th, so if you’re not sure whether or not your district is having an election, check out this comprehensive list on which districts are holding elections.
We hope you are all ready and excited for election day and exercising your right to vote! May the 4th be with you!
