There are tools available to assist you in finding the answers. In this post, I’ve compiled a list of some of my favorites. Feel free to experiment with them and see what you can learn!

What are social media analytics, and how do you use them?

Before we get into some of the best social media analytics solutions on the market, I’d want to briefly discuss how we define social media analytics.

We define social media analytics at Buffer as the collection of data from social media platforms to educate and steer our marketing approach. You may monitor your performance against your social media goals by paying close attention to social media analytics.

Social media analytics software is typically used in conjunction with social media management software. The latter allows you to plan and schedule your social media material, whereas the former allows you to track results and inform your approach.

The following are five 5 social media analytics dashboards from various social media platforms.

All of the major social media platforms have built-in analytics and dashboards that provide useful information about your activity on the platform. Here’s how you get the data and numbers that social media platforms provide.

1. Facebook Insights

Facebook Insights, which is available to all Page admins, offers you the complete statistics behind your posts, fans, and reach. You may also create a list of Pages to Watch from the Insights tab, which provides data on the performance of other Facebook pages.

How to get there: In the menu bar across the top of your Facebook Page, click the Insights tab.

Quick tip: You can check the entire numbers for each one post in your Page’s timeline by clicking on the people reached number at the bottom of the post.

2. Instagram Insights

Instagram Insights — Instagram’s native in-app statistics — will be available to you if you have an Instagram Business Profile. It has a lot of information about your profile, posts, stories, and adverts. It also contains extensive information about your followers, such as the hours and days when they are most active.

How to get access: If you have a personal Instagram account, you must convert it to a business account. In the mobile app, go to your profile page, hit the menu symbol in the upper-right corner, and select Insights.

Quick tip: You can find information about the typical times when your followers are online in the Audience area. This might help you figure out when the optimal time is to publish on Instagram.

3. Twitter Analytics

Twitter will offer you with a 28-day review of your profile’s performance in terms of profile visits, follower growth, tweet impressions, and mentions. It also provides statistics on interaction, like as retweets, mentions, favorites, and clicks, as well as an analysis of the impressions your tweets are receiving. You can export all of the information and create some really cool reports on your own.

How to get there: Go to analytics.twitter.com after logging into your Twitter account.

Quick tip: Clicking on the bar chart symbol of any of your tweets will reveal a detailed analysis of the tweet’s engagement, including URL clicks, username clicks, image clicks, and expanded data.

4. LinkedIn Analytics

You may track engagement with your updates and see other metrics about your followers and visitors for a Page that belongs to your company or group. You get access to Talent Brand analytics if you’ve upgraded your Page with LinkedIn Career Pages.

How to get there: Sign in to your LinkedIn Page admin center, then click the Analytics tab in the menu and choose Updates, Followers, or Visitors from the dropdown.

Quick tip: A blue line represents desktop views and an orange line represents mobile views in the Visitor stats area of your Company Page. To see the combined data, toggle the Aggregate mobile and desktop stats option at the top right.

5. YouTube Analytics

YouTube Analytics is a comprehensive method for measuring the success of your videos and channels on YouTube. It tracks a variety of parameters, such as estimated traffic sources, watch time, views, profits, ad performance, audience retention, and subscriptions.

How to Get In: Go to youtube.com/analytics after logging in.

A helpful hint: You’ll be transported to the detailed channel analytics page by clicking SEE MORE underneath the main dashboard. Click More > Playback location to check where your video is being seen – on your YouTube channel page, the ordinary YouTube URL (watch page), or embedded in another website or app.

All this being mentioned, take some time and subscribe to my YouTube channel

HOW TO MAKE THE MOST OF SOCIAL MEDIA IN YOUR WORKPLACE AND CAREER

Many brands and businesses are using social media in recent years. What is taken as a “time-waster” and “distraction” by some writers is now helping many businesses increase their online presence by boosting their Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook followers. Dylan Vanas in that article speaks about the five dangers of social media if used incorrectly and he shares the five ways social media can be dangerous, and what can be done to avoid the potentially negative effects. And following his concept, I felt it good to write about the light and interesting part of social media in our lives, especially in our careers and workplaces.

As time passes, social media continues to prove to be a valuable instrument for streamlining corporate processes and for establishing a successful profession in any industry. Because of the billions of people that use these platforms, businesses can reach out to a much wider audience at once. It also helps people to network with other professionals, which is beneficial for those who are looking to advance their careers.

As a result, in this post, we’ll go through the best ways to use social media in your job and business in order to help you grow and succeed at what you do.

Six Ways to Maximize Social Media and Advance Your Career

Think again if you believed social networking was only for fun and a way to waste time. Social media has become an integral component of how people communicate, and it is frequently a crucial part of the workflow in a variety of industries and organizations, from businesses to government agencies. As a result, there are a variety of ways that social media might benefit your job. Here are seven tips to help you make the most of social media and advance your career.

Create a Business Profile

Give your profile a professional appearance that demonstrates your values to visitors. If you already have a profile, you may need to make some modifications. Furthermore, getting it correctly the first time saves you the hassle of having to edit it constantly for new profiles.

Depending on the items or services you want to offer, the first thing you’ll need to do is include a display picture of your brand or business name, or a well-edited photo of yourself.

Then, in your bio, offer a brief but detailed description of what your brand or company stands for. Make sure it emphasizes your strongest abilities and that each description is free of grammatical errors. This will make it easier for folks who require your services to find you.

Stephanie Crawford says “One of the advantages of the Internet is that it’s always on. This means that you can post your professional skills and experience, and make that information available to people anywhere, anytime. It also means that you can search for information about others, both in and out of your social network, when you need to.”

Which is a good reason why you need to create a professional business profile.

Make friends with the locals.

There is no such thing as an island, especially in business. You can connect with like-minded people and other individuals or firms in your field via social media. These specialists will provide you with insider knowledge of the corporate sector as well as trends that will influence your decision-making and action plan.

Try not to confine your connection activities to just your geographic location when doing so. In reality, if you want your brand or business to go worldwide, you should interact with both local and international groups. Connecting with overseas populations serves as an effective method of self-promotion, as partners and investors from these areas are more likely to hear about your brand or business.

Contribute to the community

Interaction is required on social media platforms. Rather than being a passive member who simply takes information, try to be an active member who also gives it. Share your thoughts, resources, and insights on your profile, which may be of interest to other brands and businesses in the community. You’re establishing a reputation for yourself and bringing value to the community by doing so.

Participate in job boards on the internet.

The majority of online employment marketplaces provide useful information on how to advance your career and provide value. They also bring you up to date on current career opportunities. You may obtain access to knowledge that can assist you in taking your company or brand to the next level by joining these platforms. Recruiters and investors may be interested in your products or services, prompting them to cooperate with you in some cases.

Analyze the outcomes

The success of your efforts is demonstrated by the results. Because you’re using social media to establish your online reputation, you should track your progress over time. For example, you may use Google to look up your brand or business and see what comes up. You may also test it on other social media networks or create a custom hashtag.

Consistency is key.

Do not let your profile sit idle for more than a day. Make sure you’re participating in tweets or trends that are relevant to your company and its community. Add new abilities and recent projects you’ve accomplished to your profile to keep it up to date. You’ll be able to attain more growth if you’re consistent.

Conclusion

Social media is a versatile and effective instrument. Because so many individuals use social media sites every day, every business or brand will find its target audience there. Social media could be the perfect force to boost your career and business if you have the appropriate plan, devotion, and consistency.

HOW TO DEVELOP A SOCIAL MEDIA STRATEGY.

One of the changes that came up as a result of the pandemic is the drastic social media growth and presence, putting the business world to a challenge of keeping up with the trends for survival. Having millions of individuals scrolling on screens and watching media content makes it very important to develop a social media strategy. I prefer dividing the process into four steps:

Research Your Target Audience.

Doing potential research about your target audience helps you to know the right words for your business pitch, engagement, understand who you to sell to, and engage on social media. This gives you specific information of who your audience is, who are your customers, what niche tends to buy from you, and who you are trying to reach out to.

Competitor/Market research

Researching and analyzing what your competitors are doing gives you a strategy to outcompete them that is basically repurposing your strengths for marketing your brand and products. Some people may not agree with this approach but it’s a great way to know if there are no publications on a specific product to use as an opportunity and if there is a gap in the market that you could use to your own benefit.

Setting Goals.

This all starts with knowing the goals of your company to help you tailor that into social media-specific goals. These then guide you in knowing which tracking tools like google analytics to use in providing you with the metrics that can be measurable.

You as well always need to consider the SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable/Assignable, Realistic, and Time-Related) acronym while creating your goals. The first use of this term in management context was in November 1981 by Dr. George Doran, you can check out his point of view on a YouTube video. To break it down:

Specific:

Specificity in setting goals matters a lot as it encourages motivation in achieving goals. A few questions to ponder about while creating clear goals are:

  • What are we trying to accomplish as a company?
  • What resources do we have?
  • Who is in charge of this goal? And
  • Why this goal?

Measurable:

This helps you to track your progress in achieving your goals that are to say the increase in the buying rate, customers clicks, and so on.

Achievable:

It is important to consider realistic and achievable but not too easy goals to avoid demotivation. The questions to ponder about in this section are:

  • Do we have the capacity to achieve this goal?
  • Do we have the right resources to achieve this goal?
  • What constraints do we have at hand?

Assignable:

Dr. George Doran addresses this as assignable unlike achievable in the above YouTube video. This means assigning a specific goal to one person rather than two or more makes it easy to achieve a goal rather than having people debate on who is responsible.

Relevance:

It’s vital that your goals align with your company’s mission, vision and values to avoid contradictions that may affect your general strategy as a company.

Time Related:

Knowing the time period needed to achieve your goals helps in setting a strong strategy and knowing the right resources to use.

Develop the infrastructure.

This involves setting up a scheduling tool and standard operating procedure if you don’t have any. This helps in saving time for everything by knowing which content is needed and when it is posted online. The SOPs do a good job at helping out new employees to know what you do as a company, when you do it, how the content calendars get approved, what to do in case of any customer service issue, and the vital contacts in case of technicalities.

Social Media Productivity With Education.

It’s imperative to be open-minded in the face of adversity. If we tweak our perspective into embracing an approach of “the obstacle is the way.” It does not matter what life throws at us, there is always a way to turn the obstacle into an advantage. The new covid variant has indeed caused fear and made us hurl profanities at how things have gone wrong; because the circumstances at hand deter us from living a ‘normal life’ so we call it. But what if there is another way to look at it… what if this is an opportunity for us to take the route less traveled, to tap into new possibilities, to shape the future, to turn ‘ideals’ into reality; there is always an opportunity to think again. Please remember, attention ought to be paid to the charismatic new generation. We ought to go the extra mile to cast a light on the potential of these students. This generation knows how to manipulate the web, but they are mostly complacent about how it could add great value to who they are.

Guiding students to be intentional about the internet can be of great value to enabling them to cultivate a growth mindset and hence sparking off a cycle of knowledge-thirsty students. Google is a gateway to trillions of information. Learning how to find what’s relevant can be a game-changer for the students because YouTube alone is referred to as a university, a repository of how-to videos ranging from coding, graphics design, calligraphy, art, to Entrepreneurship master classes, photography, blogging, and physical exercises. Students need to expand their existential faculties i.e physiology, spirituality, psychology, health, relationships, skill sets, career, and personal finance which is an important aspect.

As a business student, I am interested in researching how Uganda and Africa at large can ramp up digital media development to ensure we have a fallback plan in the face of uncertainty. A wise man once said, “The illiterate man of today is not one who cannot read and write, but one who cannot Unlearn, Learn, and Relearn.”  It will be phenomenal when students discover that knowledge is not only power but profit.

Leaders are readers, learners are high earners, and learning never ceases because it’s the essence of human progress.
