Fulfilling Professional Roles and Responsibilities
Artifact 1:
I was a part of the HOTS Reading Buddies Program in Travis Heights Elementary for the Spring of 2011. I worked with a student and we would read books together and play educational games in the end.
Artifact 2:
I subscribe to NEA Today’s updates on Facebook and they provide tips and tricks for the classroom, keep me informed on the latest education news, and help me connect with others who are working to create great public schools for every student.
Artifact 3:
I did my Capstone research project over a social controversy. I focused on an issue that had to do with education and my focus question was: “Should the United States Repeal the Student Success Act?” This research project lead to learning more about the current state of our education programs in the United States. I had the pleasure of interviewing principals in AISD about their viewpoints and gained an insight into what plagues our public and charter schools. For my Civic Engagement, I was also able to attend a State Board of Education Meeting and got an inside look as to how the state of Texas decides to amend the standards and the way they choose the classes for students. The extensive research I did, made me a more knowledgeable person about how schools are funded and the importance of educators being informed about the issues which affect our schools. I learned to advocate for better schools and for the best education possible for my students.
