SCHOLARSHIPS

The Education and Experiential Learning to Employment (E3) wants to cultivate the NEXTGEN of Natural Resources and Food Science Leaders, providing scholarships and academic support to high-achieving students majoring in biology or environmental biology, climate change, and planning to pursue a career in food, agriculture, natural resources (FANH).  NEXTGEN E3 will make college more accessible for diverse students interested in FANH topics while providing experiences that expose them to USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) and FANH professionals. It will impart leadership skills that will make them highly qualified candidates for future jobs.

WHAT DOES THIS SCHOLARSHIP OFFERS?

  • A scholarship of $15,000 per year. Incoming first-year, transfer, and current SEU students are encouraged to apply.
  • Statistics about the industry, job availability, and information on how these careers may improve your life and add meaning.
  • Mentoring by faculty, alumni, and peers.
  • Interns will take a special Leadership class in Spring.
  • Paid Summer internship ($800 weekly).
  • Funding to present internship research at conferences such as MANRRS (Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Related Sciences).
  • Become an active member in a MANRRS’s chapter at SEU.
  • Access to the E3 fund for emergency, enrichment, and equity.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Major in Biology professions or EBCC (Environmental Biology and Climate Change).
  • Strong high school (or college) GPA and courses (transcript).
  • Statement on inspiration and motivation to work in FANH/USDA fields.
