This assignment provided a challenging task; to create a typeface for a sound. It was difficult in that it required fabricating something from nothing, just a word. I decided to go with the sound ‘burp,’ because it gives a gross and icky when in use. My process included repeating the sound over and over again, writing the word at the same time, and imagining the sound in my mind. I thought about how I feel when I burp, I’ve asked others the same question in order to get a feel of how others perceived the sound. The first image is my final depiction of the sound.
