Happy Monday!
We all know how hard it is to get back into the groove of things after the weekend. Getting up early and going to class is probably the last thing you want to do, but there are so many ways to make it easier to do so! This post specifically lists 4 ways to motivate yourself this Monday.
- Make a to-do-list. It’s hard to get motivated if you don’t even know what you need to do for the day. Make a to-do-list to keep yourself organized. List major items you need to complete like class assignments or list smaller items like grocery shopping and exercising. The notes section on iPhones is a great place to keep a list because you’re able to add circles next to each task and then check them off after completing them. Checking things off a to-do-list gives you a sense of accomplishment and can be uplifting if you keep up with the tasks and complete them.
- Find an accountability partner. Making friends and family aware of what you have going on will help them and you when it comes to accountability. Informing others is beneficial because they can stay on top and remind you, but it’s even more beneficial when you find someone who’s in your class or has a similar schedule because y’all can keep each other accountable. An accountability partner can be a classmate who you keep in contact with to make sure y’all are both finishing the assignment or studying for the test. An accountability partner outside of class can be a roommate who motivates you to meet them at the gym. Staying motivated is easier when you’re not in it alone.
- Reduce distractions. If I had a dollar for every time I picked up my phone to check it while working on an assignment, I’d be a billionaire. Technology and social media are probably the most popular distractions, which is why it is important to reduce using them when staying motivated. Make it a goal to put your phone away during your 50 minute class so you can focus on the material being taught instead. If you’re procrastinating going to the gym, try avoiding sitting down and watching TV before the gym. Reduce the distractions and tend to them after you complete your assignment or other task.
- Learn from failure. So you got a lower grade than you expected on your test? You live and you learn. If you just give up after failing at something, you won’t ever reach your goals. Understand what went wrong on that test and study extra for that section next time. An important aspect of staying motivated inside the classroom and outside the classroom is understanding what went wrong and learning from your mistakes, no matter how cliche that sounds.
Take these 4 points and get motivated! Just remember it is easier when you make a list, have a partner to push you, focus only on the task and learn from your mistakes.
