Due to Some important current events (COVID-19 pandemic), most people are urged to stay inside, especially in the U.S. While this may seem inconvenient, there are a few simple things to do to burn some calories when you can’t get into a gym, and don’t have any equipment lying around.

Option 1: Stairs

If you have stairs in your house, running up and down might seem a little awkward, but it is an excellent workout and by day 10 of quarantine you might be itching for some running!  -if you don’t have stairs, you can do mountain climbers instead for a similar effect.

Option 2: Yoga

Many yoga studios such as Corepower Yoga are doing free online classes right now, also there are plenty of other free sites if you just google, and you can follow along at any skill level! Yoga is not only a great workout, but also a way to decompress and stay positive in these trying times.

Option 3: Water/Detergent curls

If you need a way to target your upper body without having weights or resistance bands, you can simply use a milk or water jug, or detergent with a handle! Pretty self-explanatory as far as the exercise goes, and it will leave you with a decent sweat! (depending how full the jug is)

Option 4: Pull Ups

This one is more for the weightlifter, but it is simple for anyone who’s willing to try. First you will need a broomstick, and two chairs back to back or other flat surfaces. You can leave a gap between the chairs and put the stick across the back, kneel down and do miniature pull-ups! Make sure you are being safe and don’t damage your furniture, but this is a great almost-full-body workout.

These tips should help keep you active during this crisis, and remember to stay safe and stay healthy!
