Wouldn’t it be nice to be the fittest, healthiest and happiest student on your campus?
Duh! This is possible for anyone, but it’s important to remember that it won’t happen overnight. Improving your lifestyle is a process. Taking a step at a time toward your end goal is what will be the difference to whether you achieve it or not.
This is obviously easier said than done, especially for college students who have to balance assignments, work, exercise, social lives and other obligations. So, start small.
Set 3 or 4 achievable goals this week for yourself. They can be as simple as walking to class instead of driving, cooking dinner instead of eating out with friends, or taking time before bed to journal about your day.
Write your goals down and place them somewhere where you spend a lot of time so that you are reminded. Maybe even add an incentive, like a personal spa day, if that motivates you to achieve your goals.
By taking time out of your busy college schedule to take the smaller steps, you’re setting yourself up for success. Exercise is just one aspect of a healthier lifestyle and there are plenty of workouts students can do in between classes and in their free time. Below is a 10 minute strength workout you can try!
AMRAP (As Many Rounds as Possible) Circuit
Do as many rounds as possible for 10 minutes and 10 reps of each exercise.
- Broad jump, broad jump, vertical jump
- Leg Raises (abs)
- Square jumps with 2 ft together
- Push up with rotation
- 1-legged dead lift (10 each leg)
- Hip Lifts (Bridges)
I challenge you to meet up with a friend or a group of friends and do this strength circuit together. Having people next to you who are also enduring the pain is helpful, plus you can push each other and make it a friendly competition!
If you get anything from this post, just remember that this journey for a better lifestyle is a process made up of smaller steps and goals. The effort you make will add up in the end and result in something positive.
“Success is the sum of all efforts-repeated day in and day out.” -Robert Collier
