As the hour grew closer to mid-day, the St. Edward’s University faculty, students and staff made the walk towards Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel in order to partake in the festivities of the mass on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2016.

The people in the chapel began to settle in, waiting for the Ash Wednesday Mass to begin by making their way first to the bowl of holy water, then to their desired seats. The mid-day mass showed to have the most student faculty in attendance than other weekday masses, Feb. 10, 2016.

As the people settled into the chapel, Assistant Director of Campus Ministry, Joshua Stagni, set the table with the ashes on the top in order for them to be ready before mass begin. His attire helps to indicate the time period in the Catholic calendar, the commencement of Lent, Feb. 10, 2016.

The attendees of the Ash Wednesday mass at St. Edward’s University seemed to leave the chapel with an easy that they had made their commitment to practice the processes of Lent and as such have their ash crosses to prove it. They symbolize a new beginning of repent and of sacrifice in order to create a stronger bond with themselves and their faith, Feb. 10, 2016.
