This color scheme alone was the basis for my 20 drawings project. The only time I get the opportunity to see these colors is when I am driving from my home to my apartment, around 9-10pm. I am not allowed to experience these colors outside of my car because my parents think it unsafe for me to be out alone at night. I wanted to capture my commute I have been recently taking. Most drives turn into a blur of neon lights and passing cars, so I was hoping everyone seeing these drawing all together would be able to experience what i experience, or at least have their own memories of this time of night, driving or being a passenger.

Chris O’Filli “is best known for his inventive, vibrant works examining contemporary black experience, which draw upon a wide array of historical and cultural sources.” (artiste.com) Upon looking at some of his work, they all have his unique style. But, every piece has a story. It looks as though each piece is in its own unique setting, and even though some are “flat” and some have more dimensions, they all allow the person experiencing it to create an emotion unique to them in that moment.
