Student Entry Form

Eligibility:

All SEU students are eligible to participate

Entry Requirements:

All applicants must complete & submit Student Entry Form (Deadline for entry requirements: Friday, March 27th by 5:00 pm)

Speech Requirements:

Speech must be original work on a current social problem, identifying quoted material & advocate for change (See Suggested Focus Areas below). No visual aids permitted during speech.

Topic Area/Specific Purpose: To persuade the audience to advocate and/or adopt a specific call to action.

Length: 7-8 minutes

Visual Aids/Props: No visual aids will be permitted during the contest.

Judging:

A panel of five judges will be scoring each speech on a standardized critique form. Criteria Include: content & analysis, delivery, & language

Awards:

  • 1st prize $100
  • 2nd prize $50
  • 3rd prize $25
  • Certificates for ALL participants

Contest Details:

When: Thursday, April 9th, 2015, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Where: Jones Auditorium
