DIY Halloween Crafts on a BOOdget

By Ana T.

Happy Halloween everyone! Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, mainly because it is an excuse to be creative and fun with costumes, sweet treats, and decorations. Although store bought decorations and costumes are fun, it is arguably more fun to make them yourselves! Not only are homemade decorations one of a kind, but they’re also cheaper to make and easy to customize to your liking. It’s also super gratifying to make your own stuff – coming from an expert crafter. Instead of scrabbling for last-minute decor at your local Halloween store, check out some of my picks for affordable DIY crafts to spruce up your home during the spookiest night of the year!

Paper Spiderwebs

If you have ever made paper snowflakes during Christmastime, making these spiderwebs will be a piece of cake! All you need is scrapbook paper, a gluestick and scissors. You basically fold the scrapbook paper like a fan, cut into the folds with any design of your choosing, glue the folds together, and hang it up with some embroidery floss or twine! Spider Garland

These spiders are creepy, crawly, and so easy to make! All you need are black pipecleaners and yarn to make the cutest little spiders you’ve ever seen – just bend the pipecleaners into your desired spider shape, string them all together with some yarn or twine, and you’re done! Monster Jars

Such a cute way to spruce up any containers you have around the house. Simply add some spooky googly eyes to any candy jar of your choosing to make them come to life! Make it extra festive by filling jars with candy corn, gummy worms, or even gummy eyeballs. The possibilities are endless! Check out this blog for more inspiration.

“Boo” Bottles

Not only are these Boo Bottles super cute and easy to make, but they are a great way to repurpose any kind of empty bottles you have laying around! Black and white paint can go a long way – don’t be afraid to get creative with your favorite ghost faces! You can also use white spray paint and any kind of markers as well. Add pops of color with purple, orange, and green! Get the full tutorial here.

Toilet Paper Roll Bats

You’re going to want to save your toilet paper rolls with this hack! Wrap each roll with black construction paper, cut out a pair of bat wings, and slap on some googly eyes to make the cutest little bats you’ve ever seen! Check it out here

I’m a crafter at heart, and I know I’ll definitely be trying out some of these hacks this year. All of these crafts are so cute, and the best thing about them is that they can be made with things you already have around your house. So what are you waiting for? Pop in your favorite Halloween movie, invite some haunted helpers over, and get to crafting! And of course, have a safe and happy Halloween!
