Challenges in Transatlantic Security & Borders & Geopolitics in the 21st Century

Greetings Fulbrighters and Friends. Please join the Kozmetsky Center April 8 – 9, 2019 Jones Global Events Center, St. Edward’s University for sessions co-sponsored with the Center for Europe & Center for Russian, East European & Eurasian Studies, University of Texas, Austin & the Geopolitics Research Committee/ International Political Science Association (IPSA) featuring experts of the academic & defense communities offering perspectives from different national contexts defining border security challenges influencing regional & global geopolitics.

Experts will address repercussions of conflicts, violence & economic dislocation impacting border security among nations of the transatlantic community & beyond. We anticipate that sharing research methods & findings across different regional contexts should yield conclusions of relevance for both the international academic & policy worlds suggesting areas for continued research & policy development. Austin, located in close proximity to the US-Mexico border with significant security, economic & cultural ties to our Southern neighbor, serves as perhaps an ideal location for holding a serious research fact-based global dialogue on issues of borders & security.
