Today, Austin Foster Fellowship wants to highlight some fun activities to have the perfect bonding Saturday this weekend! A few great places to visit are:

  1. The Thinkery
  2. The Museum of Ice Cream
  3. COTA Karting

The Thinkery

1830 Simond Ave, Austin, TX

The Thinkery is a children’s hands-on, STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) museum. The museum is built on diversity, respect, innovation, and creativity! Kids of all ages and abilities can come together to play, learn, and foster curiosity about the world around them.

There are not only a multitude of opportunities for children to foster creativity and individuality, but there are also opportunities for adults to “observe, facilitate, and collaborate with” their children. Parenting and caretaking is an incredibly important job, and The Thinkery works too, “parent/caregiver understanding of early childhood development, children’s scientific reasoning and research-based parenting strategies to enhance parent-child bonding and family well-being.”

The Thinkery is open on Saturdays from 8 am to 5 pm; $14 per person and children 23 months and under are free! Get your tickets and reservations here!

The Museum of Ice Cream

11506 Century Oaks Terrace, #128, Austin, TX

The Museum of Ice Cream is an “Instagram Museum” filled with 12 fun and colorful exhibits to experience! Not only can you walk around and take fun-filled pictures, but there is also a diner that serves coffee, snacks, and cocktails for the parents! Lastly, there is also an installation where guests can create their ice cream-themed art!

These exhibits are a great way to connect with your kids, with not only fun interactive experiences, (like jumping in a pool full of sprinkles) but also fun interactive food experiences! Each ticket comes with five treats, your choice of scoops, milkshakes (boozy or not), or sundaes!

The Museum of Ice Cream is open on Saturdays from 10 am to 7:30 pm; tickets are $29-$32 per person, children 2 and under are free! Get your ticket reservations here!

COTA Karting

9201 Circuit of the Americas Blvd, Del Valle, TX

COTA Karting is the United State’s #1 go-karting destination for all ages! The only go-karting track next to the ONLY Formula 1 track in the country! Speeds go up to 55 mph, with experience levels from novice to expert.

There are racing classes for all experience levels to have a better experience, as well as being able to choose between a fun, or competitive race. Competitive races are 16 and older, (valid driver’s license required) while Fun races are 14 and older (no license required). Junior kart drivers must at least be 12 years old and have a minimum height of 48 inches. Double kart (for parents and kids to ride together) drivers must be at least 16 years old and 58 inches tall, while passengers must be at least 48 inches tall.

Closed-toe shoes are required and each race round is 10 minutes long! All of these requirements are to ensure everyone has a safe and amazingly fun time! This is an exhilarating experience to bond with your family and especially your kids!

COTA Karting is open on Saturdays from 10 am to 10 pm; tickets start at $35 per ten-minute race. You can learn more on the website here!

Overall, Austin Foster Fellowship wishes that every foster family has the opportunity and time to have fun with their family and get the chance to bond! Activities like those listed in this blog can make an unforgettable memory in a kid’s life. Have fun and be safe y’all!
