Graphic Design End Term Essay
I don’t really know how many hours it would take to call something excessive. Personally I’m always doing something creative but, what that something is varies. I always end up switching between different things at one time because that’s just how I think. But, doing different projects helps me get ideas for things I’ve run out of ideas for. Of course, just doing something once is probably not enough especially if you don’t plan on revisiting that project or thing again. Then again, maybe that one time is all it takes. You can never really know.
I think sophisticated work is something that you naturally want to look at. If it is interesting and styled in a way that compliments whatever your using your work for, then I think that is what sophisticated work is. I think it also has to do with marketability. I always ask myself when making something, “would someone want this?” If the answer is no, then I know that I need to improve it. If I don’t know, then I know I have to ask someone. Of course, a yes and a no are both subjective. Most of the stuff I want to create is marketable to a specific group of people (people who like anime, or video-games) but sometimes when I ask people who have no interest in the topic of something I’ve created, I get the old ‘you’re wasting your time’ thing.
I don’t really know what the best criticism for my maps were mostly because I don’t remember. Critics about color schemes were helpful because I tend to have a hard time with using colors that are too bold and they end up being distracting. I also appreciate when little details are pointed out such as positions on graphics or spacing.
Making the second map was the hardest. I didn’t really now what I wanted to do with all of the data and what made it worse was all the numbers. I feel like that is the worst one I made, especially since I missed class for that one and I didn’t get it critiqued as much as I would have liked. Also because Tony Pierce and I have nothing in common, so finding inspiration and motivation for that map was very difficult. Of course, the most fun map was the third one. I liked being about to do a topic that I liked and because of that I felt that I could be more creative.
I did a few things that I really love. For one, I finally finished this guy that I’ve been working on. I made him in a program called Metasequoia but, the picture was rendered from Blender. I had started making him in the summer and I just finished him a few weeks ago. I don’t really know what I’m gonna do with him, but he looks nice~
I also animated the pose because I thought it was funny:
I think my personal life effected me in a neutral way. For a little while now, live has been a real pain, but I try not to let it effect the quality of my work. That is why I tend to miss days from school, so that I can at least keep up the quality. I also try not to fall behind in the technical aspect either. Google is my best friend when it comes to printing, and figuring out how to use programs if I miss a demo.
Most idea classroom setting is kind of like what this class was: Pretty chill. No pressure to talk in class, but it was comfortable to talk and ask for tips anyway. No pressure to come to class, but it’s beneficial to go. I guess being apart of the class means to have an opinion about things in the class and you have to be able to say you’ve advanced somehow because of the class. I think that I have learned a lot of stuff from being in this class, and I’ve probably been a normal amount of involved this whole semester.

For both booklets, I think that the most helpful comments were about tabs and extra spacing. I spend a lot of time reading on the internet so, I often forget how physical books are set up.
The most difficult part of making the booklet was printing. I missed class so I had to Google how to do it. When I finally figured out how to do it for the commencement booklet, I forgot how to do it for the wiki book so I always have to double check everything before I print… But, the most enjoyable part of making it was choosing our own topic. That made it 100x better and more interesting.
