Sam was born in Fort Worth Texas to a family of creative individuals. After graduating from Fort Worth Fine Arts Academy, she went on to study studio art at St. Edward’s University in Austin. She tends to favor illustrations in ink, watercolor, and painting in many mediums. She will receive her Bachelor of Arts undergraduate degree in May of 2013. Petty has been included in a number of important exhibitions including Concepts Illustrated, in August 2012 at the St. Edward’s Fine Art Gallery, Austin TX, Modern Nomads, at the Up Collective lot in a U-Haul trailer during East Austin Studio Tour in Texas November of 2012. Upcoming shows include Senior Exhibition May 2013 in Austin Texas at the St. Edward’s Fine Art Gallery.  Petty was recently published in Austin Fusion Magazine in an article titled Art to Dye For, where she represented a print shop called United We Art. Petty is also currently interning at Women and Their Work Gallery in Austin Texas and working on her portfolio for graduate school as she finishes her undergraduate degree. She currently resides in South Austin and hopes to attend graduate school in the near future.
